Abandonment checkers only read WordPress.org. ACF Pro, WP Rocket, Elementor Pro, and every other premium plugin never touch that repo — so nothing tracks whether the vendor's still shipping. We checked 29 by hand. Three are already worth your attention.
One email. The full 29-plugin report, nothing else.
WP Ultimo At risk
wpultimo.com returned a server error (HTTP 522) on 2026-08-23. The plugin now lives as a community fork, "Ultimate Multisite," on GitHub — under a different name, with two conflicting version numbers in the same release feed.
Advanced Ads Pro Slowing
wpadvancedads.com/changelog/ returned HTTP 404 at check time. No vendor-hosted changelog exists anywhere else. The only version data comes from third-party reseller mirrors — and they disagree with each other on the release date.
Restrict Content Pro Slowing
Actively patched, but the brand is being wound down and folded into Kadence Memberships. Critical security fixes are committed only through April 2027. Nothing beyond that is scheduled.

Continuous monitoring
Want this checked continuously against your client sites — every premium plugin, every site, alerts when a vendor goes quiet? $29/mo per agency, unlimited sites.
Patchstack starts at $89/mo. ManageWP charges $1/site/mo per add-on. One flat agency price, all your sites.
Run this check on my sites →Tell us what you manage. We'll check it by hand, same as the 29 above.

Every abandonment checker on the market — MainWP, WP Umbrella, Vendi — reads WordPress.org's repository data. Fine for free plugins. Structurally blind for the premium ones: ACF Pro, WP Rocket, Gravity Forms, Elementor Pro, and dozens more never touch the .org repo, so nothing tracks whether the vendor's still shipping.
We checked 29 of the most-used premium plugins by hand: release cadence and changelog dates. Each gets a graded, evidence-linked verdict — Active Slowing At risk No visible activity — never a bare accusation. Every claim carries a date and a source. Support-forum responsiveness was not independently checked for any plugin in this report.
Dated 2026-08-23. Checked by hand, plugin by plugin, against each vendor's own public changelog, release-notes page, or blog — not against WordPress.org.
MainWP, WP Umbrella, ManageWP, and every other abandonment/health checker on the market read exactly one source: the WordPress.org plugin repository's metadata. That works for plugins that live in the repo. It tells you nothing about the plugins that don't — and a large share of the plugins agencies actually depend on (ACF Pro, WP Rocket, Gravity Forms, Elementor Pro, MemberPress, and dozens more) are sold and updated entirely off-repo, on the vendor's own site. Ask MainWP or WP Umbrella about one of those and you get silence, not a verdict — their own documentation says premium and off-repo plugins fall outside what the tool can evaluate.
That gap is invisible until an agency needs it filled: a client site running a premium plugin that quietly stopped shipping updates eight months ago, with no dashboard warning because there was never a repo entry to watch in the first place. This report exists to fill that gap by hand for 29 plugins agencies commonly run, using only each vendor's own public release history.
What we checked, per plugin: the vendor's own changelog or release-notes page, vendor blog posts announcing releases, and (where available) the plugin's public GitHub release history. We recorded the latest confirmed release and its date, then looked for evidence of a regular cadence versus a visible gap. Where a plugin has a security-relevant fix, that's called out — a same-cycle CVE or vulnerability patch is a strong positive signal regardless of overall release frequency. Support-forum responsiveness was not independently checked for any plugin in this report; where that would have mattered to a verdict, the table says so rather than implying it was measured.
What the four verdicts mean:
Honest limitations. For most premium plugins in this report, even a basic count of releases in the last 12 or 24 months is not publicly visible — vendors don't consistently publish a browsable full changelog, and third-party mirrors that do list version history often disagree with each other or with the vendor. That absence of a simple release count is exactly the visibility problem this report exists to document: if we can't get a clean count by hand with unlimited time on a single vendor's changelog page, an automated repo-only checker has no chance at all. Where a count could not be confirmed, the table says "not publicly visible" rather than guessing.
Two specific data points are flagged as unresolved rather than asserted as fact:
| Plugin | Latest release (observed) | Releases, last 12 mo | Releases, last 24 mo | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP Ultimo | Vendor site unreachable (HTTP 522, checked 2026-08-23); now a community fork ("Ultimate Multisite") on GitHub with two conflicting version reports (2.15.1 vs. 2.4.12) | not publicly visible (conflicting data) | not publicly visible | At risk — vendor's own site is down and the product has been handed to a community fork under a different name; a maintenance-continuity red flag regardless of the fork's own cadence. |
| WP All Import Pro | 4.11.0 — 2026-02-07 (security release) | 1 confirmed core release; blog's "New Release" tag last posted 2026-02-12 | not publicly visible | Slowing — no publicly visible release or blog post found between Feb 2026 and the Aug 23 2026 research date (~6-month gap); official changelog URL (wpallimport.com/changelog/) returned 404 at check time. |
| FacetWP | 4.5 — 2026-03-23 | 1 confirmed (4.5, Mar 2026); zero releases found between Mar 23 2026 and the Aug 23 2026 research date | 8 confirmed (4.3.2 Aug 2024 → 4.5 Mar 2026, per official changelog) | Slowing — visible cadence deceleration versus the prior 1–2 month rhythm; no release logged in the ~5 months since 4.5. |
| WP Offload Media (Delicious Brains) | 3.3.1 — 2026-04-18 | 2 confirmed (3.3.0 Feb 8, 3.3.1 Apr 18, both 2026) | not publicly visible | Slowing — no release found in the ~4 months between 3.3.1 and the Aug 23 2026 research date, versus a roughly bimonthly cadence earlier in the year. |
| Restrict Content Pro (now "Kadence Memberships") | v4.0.2, "Last updated 2 weeks ago" as of 2026-08-23 (≈ 2026-08-09) | not publicly visible (exact count) | not publicly visible | Slowing — actively patched short-term, but the RCP brand is being wound down and folded into Kadence Memberships, with critical security patches published only through April 2027 and none after. |
| WP Simple Pay Pro | 4.17.0 — 2026-03-14; earlier 4.16.1 — 2026-02-22. A reseller mirror shows "last updated" 2026-08-12 but no corresponding dated changelog entry was found. | 2 confirmed dated releases (Feb, Mar 2026); an unconfirmed Aug 2026 update | not publicly visible | Slowing — confirmed changelog entries stop in March 2026, a ~5-month gap versus the near-monthly cadence of comparable payment/membership tools; the Aug 2026 "last updated" signal is not corroborated by a public changelog entry. |
| Advanced Ads Pro | Official changelog (wpadvancedads.com/changelog/) returned HTTP 404 at check time; no vendor-hosted changelog found | not publicly visible | not publicly visible | Slowing — official changelog unreachable and no vendor-hosted changelog could be located; release cadence not publicly visible. This is a support-visibility gap, not confirmation of inactivity. |

| WP Migrate (Delicious Brains) | 2.7.10 — 2026-06-30 (per vendor blog reference) | ≥8 confirmed on public GitHub release history, though version numbering did not fully reconcile with vendor references (see evidence note) | not publicly visible | Active — but the GitHub releases page appeared to lag the vendor's own version references; verify current cadence directly with the vendor before relying on this line. |
